Paul Yun Ji-chung and 123 companion martyrs, who will be beatified in August of 2014, had laid the cornerstone of the Catholic Church in Korea through the profession of their faith in God. In order to represent their Heavenly glory I have painted their portrait as the pioneers of faith and their representation enjoying the Heavenly bliss.

I have used the five images of the Apocalypse for this purpose:

1. "I saw that there was a huge number, impossible for anyone to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language; they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands." (7,9)

2. "These are the people who have been through the great trial; they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb." (7,14)

3. "They are standing in front of God's throne and serving him day and night in his sanctuary; and the One who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them." (7,15)

4. "And the city did not need the sun or the moon for light, since it was lit by the radiant glory of God, and the Lamb was a lighted torch for it." (21,23) It is the description of the new Jerusalem.

5. "Blessed are those who will have washed their robes clean, so that they will have the right to feed on the tree of life and can come through the gates into the city." (22,14)

The Blessed, "People opening the dawn light", are either holding the palms in their hands to symbolize their victory, or the cross to symbolize their martyrdom, or the lily to symbolize their virginity.

The youngest of the martyrs is coming to meet with a bouquet of althea and lily in her hands. The hardships of the martyrs are gone, and they passed from death to the life of God's kingdom where there is a victory of the martyrs and the fullness of eternal bliss. 

I have painted the picture reciting the following prayer: "Lord, I believe that the Blessed 124 martyrs have entered your kingdom enjoying the eternal happiness of your light. Grant us, their descendants, the grace of walking on the path of eternal life by imitating their faith!"

Paolo Yun Ji-chung and compagni martiri, che saranno beatificati in Agosto del 2014, furono la pietra angolare della Chiesa Cattolica in Corea attraverso la professione della loro fede in Dio. Al fine di rappresentare la loro gloria celeste ho dipinto il loro ritratto come i pionieri della fede e la loro rappresentazione che godono la beatitudine celeste.

Ho usato le cinque immagini dell’Apocalisse per questo scopo:

1. “Dopo queste cose vidi: ecco, una moltitudine immensa, che nessuno poteva contare, di ogni nazione, tribù, popolo e lingua. Tutti stavano in piedi davanti al trono e davanti all'Agnello, avvolti in vesti candide, e tenevano rami di palma nelle loro mani.” (7,9)

2. “Sono quelli che vengono dalla grande tribolazione e che hanno lavato le loro vesti, rendendole candide nel sangue dell'Agnello.” (7,14)

3. “Per questo stanno davanti al trono di Dio e gli prestano servizio giorno e notte nel suo tempio; e Colui che siede sul trono stenderà la sua tenda sopra di loro.” (7,15)

4. “La città non ha bisogno della luce del sole, né della luce della luna: la gloria di Dio la illumina e la sua lampada è l'Agnello.” (21,23) È la descrizione della nuova Gerusalemme.

5. “Beati coloro che lavano le loro vesti per avere diritto all'albero della vita e, attraverso le porte, entrare nella città.” (22,14)

I Beati, "Persone aprendo la luce dell'alba", o sono in possesso di palme nelle loro mani per simboleggiare la loro vittoria, o la croce a simboleggiare il loro martirio, o il giglio per simboleggiare la loro verginità.

Il più giovane dei martiri sta arrivando per incontrarsi con un bouquet di altea e giglio nelle sue mani. Non ci sono più le tribolazioni dei martiri, e sono passati dalla morte alla vita del regno di Dio, dove vi è la vittoria dei martiri e la pienezza della beatitudine eterna.

Ho dipinto l'immagine recitando la seguente preghiera: "Signore, io credo che i Beati 124 martiri sono entrati tuo regno e godono la felicità eterna della tua luce. Concede a noi, loro discendenti, la grazia di camminare sulla via della vita eterna imitando la loro fede! "
